RESPONSIBILITIES
OF THE BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP BOARD
Local
Economic Strategy
- To advise the Council on the Borough's Economic
Development Strategy and the annual action
plans to implement that strategy, and then
to monitor performance against the plan.
County,
Regional and National Strategy
- To promote the Borough view in the debate
in local government and other bodies on the
development of wider economic strategies.
Implications
for Economic Well Being
- To advise the Council on the economic implications
of their policies and key decisions.
Promoting
the Borough
- To promote the Borough as an attractive
place for new businesses to relocate to, focussing
not just on major businesses and initiatives
in the town, but all retail, service and manufacturing
businesses across the whole Borough.
Supporting
the Business Community
- To help local businesses to stay in the
Borough, particularly when they are growing
and are looking for opportunities to remain
in this community.
Promoting
Epsom as a Market Town and Shopping Centre
in Surrey
- To promote Epsom as a distinctive market
town and retain its competitive position.
To advise the Council on a strategy to support
local shopping centres across the Borough.
Providing
Services that are Sensitive to Business Needs
- To advise the Council on the implementation
of their policies and procedures and take
account of the special needs of the business
community.
Wider
Consultation with the Business Community
- To advise the Council through the formal
non-domestic ratepayers' consultation arrangements
on the Council's policies and budgets in the
coming year.
Town
Centre Management
- To advise the Council how to develop the
market, to attract visitors and on pricing
policies to retain its viability. To advise
the Council on policies and charges for off-street
car parking in relation to the economic viability
of the Town Centre.
Tourism
- To advise on policies to attract visitors
to the Borough (but not be disruptive to the
community), to maximise the income for retailers
and other sectors of the business community
as a contribution to the economic well-being
of the whole community.
